Supporting National Apprenticeship Week: Our very own Sales Apprentice Lauren Wheeler shares her experience

With the national apprenticeship week (5th to 9th March) fast approaching it is a great time to celebrate and spread the word about the benefits of apprenticeships. Nustream are committed to developing our local Berkshire IT talent. Our very own apprentice – Lauren Wheeler – shares her experience of the past 6 months at our Nustream HQ in Newbury.

Lauren’s experience as Nustream’s Sales Apprentice

“Hello, my name is Lauren and I am proud to be Nustream’s first apprentice. I have been with Nustream now for six months having joined the team in September 2017. It has been an exciting journey to date with lots of opportunity in an innovative, young and vibrant company. Here’s some insight into my apprenticeship so far…

My Main Role

My main role is to keep the sales team in check. I support the team with admin and work with our customers to ensure they are happy and satisfied with our service. As Nustream is a Xerox Gold Status Authorised Technology Partner I endeavour to represent the business as best I can.

What I have learnt so far

I have learnt so much since starting here in September. I’ve become an Excel queen – creating daily spreadsheets for our sales team. Also I analyse the call activity to ensure we are meeting our targets. I proactively monitor devices and order consumables using Xerox’s portal and software. Learning how to use the Xerox Device Manager and Xerox Service Manager didn’t take long. Another skill I have learnt is Microsoft dynamics 365. I use the Customer Relationship Management system regularly to upload accounts for the sales team.

It has been great to work at Nustream whilst studying for my Level 3 Business Administration qualification at West Berkshire Training Consortium. My manager and colleagues are really supportive with both my work and my studies. As an apprentice and the youngest employee I feel very comfortable that I can get all the help I need for any problems I may face.

I am developing all the time and my latest project is to setup a Nustream charity coffee morning for the business park. The purpose of the coffee morning is to raise as much money as possible for a remarkable local charity – Daisy’s Dream. Daisy’s Dream supports children and families affected by life threatening illness or bereavement working across Berkshire and the surrounding areas.  I have enjoyed planning the event and hopefully I can go on to plan more.

What I am looking forward to

Over the next few months I am looking forward to continuing to support our existing customers and welcoming new ones. Also I am keen to improve my product knowledge and stay up to date with new products and features by undertaking additional training courses to the ones I have already completed. Finally, I would like to carry on gaining great skills and building on my experiences whilst helping Nustream expand.
